What is the occlusion of teeth?
Occlusion of teeth we call any contact of the teeth of the upper and of the lower jaw. It is a complex function involving all the elements of the stomatognathic system( i.e. the two jaws with the teeth and the muscles of the face,head and neck, as well as the temporomandibular joint structures). The teeth of the upper and of the lower jaw are positioned next to each other, in the shape of a rainbow, so that they touch each other, forming the so-called dental bar.
For occlusion of the teeth there is a normal model.
What is the Central occlusion?
The mandible during the operation of moving to different places and thus the contact of the teeth of (occlusion) with those of the maxilla can be done in various locations. There is, however, one place that concerns us most, and this is where we have most of the contacts between the teeth when closing the teeth. This position is called Central Occlusion. This occlusion say that it's bad, when it is not adjacent to all of the back teeth with the same power, either due to the fact that the teeth are “wrong”, so with orthodontic problems, either due to bad fillings or prostheses.
The result is that there are a lot of unpleasant problems :
- Create increased pressure on specific teeth, increasing the risk of breaking a tooth
- Create increased pressure on the jaw joint (mainly in the temporomandibular joint the joints and muscles of the head, neck and face, resulting in chronic personal pain or chronic headaches-type voltage (see the link).
When you co-exist and orthodontic problems created additional problems:
- Aggravate the external appearance of the person
- Rough cleaning of the teeth, increasing the risk of tooth decay and gingivitis
- Reduce the masticatory ability
It is important the restoration of the occlusal?
A filling, which is located in the occlusal surface of the tooth, or a prosthesis that does not “leave” the tooth to close properly with the competitor, may cause disorder of malocclusion. The same thing happens with teeth that have abnormal position in the mouth due to orthodontic anomalies. In these cases, the dentist will remove the “early contacts” to create the desired occlusion.
In most cases, patients feel the “early contacts”. The human capacity to feel such interference in occlusion reaches 10 µm, which is 10 thousandths of a millimeter! Infinitesimal size, which, if not corrected, however, subverts all the stomatognathic system functions. If the interference remain you will feel discomfort at that point, it will gradually be replaced by pain. The next stage is the inflammation of the pulp of the tooth this and the necrosis of.

What problems can occur?
If these contacts remain in the mouth, they create serious problems causing over time:
- pain on joints,
- grip in the masticatory muscles,
- unexplained headaches,

- pain in one or more teeth,
- inflammation and wound closure,
- maybe even necrosis some tooth or breaking of.
Of course, every closure that goes beyond the limits of the ideal is not classified automatically and problematic. To do this there must be manifested symptoms and disorders or are there elements that will appear in the future!!
